On-line submission/review

The conference is a forum for researchers and designers to present and discuss various aspects of VLSI Design, electronic design automation (EDA), and VLSI technologies. It covers the entire spectrum of activities in the two vital areas, which underpin the semiconductor industry. The conference will feature regular paper sessions, short paper sessions, special sessions, panel discussions, and industrial exhibits. A two-day program of tutorials on January 3-4 on topics of current interest will precede the conference activities of January 5-7.

TOPICS OF INTEREST: Papers are invited on topics related to, but not limited to, the following areas:

  • Gigascale design methodology
  • Embedded systems-hardware/software co-design
  • FPGA-based design
  • Analog-digital mixed signal SOC
  • Concurrent package and board design
  • CMOS and interconnect reliability
  • Gigascale integrated circuit manufacturing
  • Digital imaging
  • DSP design
  • High-level synthesis
  • Logic synthesis
  • ASIC design
  • Core-based systems
  • Reconfigurable hardware design
  • Asynchronous Design
  • Interconnect aware design
  • All aspects of test and DFT
  • Formal Verification
  • Processor design
  • Low-power design
  • Mixed signal and analog design
  • RF design and modeling
  • Performance-driven design
  • Physical design
  • Programmable devices
  • Advances in Memory Design
  • Simulation and standards
  • Applications: DSP/Communication/Encryption/Security/Compression etc.
  • Issues in deep-submicron VLSI
  • Impact of process technology on design
  • TCAD: Technology modeling and Device Design and simulation
  • Compact modeling

PAPER SUBMISSION : Please submit previously unpublished papers electronically (as postscript or pdf files) on the conference website by the paper submission deadline . The manuscript should clearly state the novel ideas, results and applications of the contribution. Submissions will undergo BLIND REVIEW. On the web site, please provide the abstract of the paper, name, address, e-mail, telephone and/or fax numbers of all authors with the contact author identified. Papers should not exceed 6 single-spaced pages including figures and references in two-column IEEE conference paper format, unless you are willing to buy 1 or 2 more pages if the paper is accepted (indicate this in a footnote in the paper). Proposals for embedded tutorials in emerging areas should be submitted as an extended abstract (pdf file) not exceeding 4 pages. Authors will be notified of acceptance by August 31, 2005. Camera-ready papers should be submitted on the conference website by September 27, 2005.

IMPORTANT: Your paper will undergo a BLIND REVIEW.
Therefore, do NOT include author names or any other information (e.g., your names in the reference list) that uniquely identifies authors in your paper. Authors can prevent identity disclosure in three ways: (1) not list names and affiliations of authors, (2) not say "my work" or "our work" in the text while citing references, and (3) word acknowledgments such that identity of authors and their affiliations are not implied. Author information should ONLY be included in the submission form.

On-line Paper Submission/Review:

On-line submission is managed by Docman (document management system). To submit any information on-line, you must check-in with a userid and password. A new window will pop up. If you have EVER used Docman in the past, you have a valid user ID and password ( Cannot recall User ID/Password? ). Otherwise, please sign-up as a New User to obtain a userid and password.
Check-in and you may return to this window to choose from the following ( then go back to Docman window to proceed with online submission/review).

Author: Submit or View/Withdraw/Change Paper
Reviewer: View or Download Paper/Submit, Withdraw or Edit Reviews

TUTORIALS: This conference is well known for running a highly successful series of tutorials. We dedicate two days to six full-day tutorials on recent topics in VLSI design, EDA, and technology. Topics are open at this time, and speakers are encouraged to submit proposals to Tutorial Chairs through the conference website by the tutorial proposal submission deadline .

SPECIAL SESSIONS: Proposals for special sessions (a set of related papers on a subject) will be considered for inclusion in the technical program. Special session proposal should include a two-page summary of the session and a list of papers on the conference website. Papers in the list should be submitted according to the paper submission guidelines. This material should be submitted on the website before the submission deadline. Papers that are part of the special session will go through the same peer review process as regular papers.

EXHIBITS: The conference provides a unique opportunity for vendors of VLSI design tools and services to display their products/services. Exhibition space is limited and those interested should immediately contact the Exhibits Chairs.

AWARDS: A Best Paper Award (Prof. A. K. Choudhury Award), a Best Student Paper Award and two Honorable Mention Awards will be given. Student authors should be identified on the manuscripts. Papers with at least one student author will be eligible for the Best Student Paper Award. A Design Contest Award open to only participants from India will also be given. Please check the conference website for contest rules and submit entries by the design contest submission deadline .

FELLOWSHIPS: The Steering Committee will award fellowships, based on need and merit, to partially cover expenses of attendees from India. Applications must be submitted before the fellowship application deadline using the conference website.
