ENHANCED SECURITY
MEASURES AT THE CONFERENCE VENUE
We, as General Chairs of
the VLSI Design Conference understand and
share the concern, the conference delegates,
may have about the security issues, during
VLSI 2009, because of the unfortunate
terrorist attacks in Mumbai, last week.
We would like to update the delegates that the
organizing committee had a detailed meeting
with the management of Taj Palace and
inspected the enhanced security measures being
implemented at the hotel.
Albeit laymen in the area of security, the
Organizing Committee felt comfortable
regarding the overall security arrangements
they saw which included good access control to
the hotel, metal detectors, X-Ray machines and
enhanced presence of security and police.
Moreover, Hotel Taj Palace is one of the three
Deluxe Hotels in New Delhi, which is approved
by Special Protection Group (SPG) and Delhi
Police for the visits of the President, Vice
President and Prime Minister of India to the
Hotel.
All vehicles entering the hotel are thoroughly
checked. The hotel can be accessed only from a
single entrance and all other entrances of the
hotel have been sealed.
The Hotel Management will continue the
implementation of enhanced security measures
in January 2009 and beyond. Delhi Police &
other Government Agencies, have enhanced
security measures at the Airport, Hotels and
other parts of the Capital City.
As Conference General Chairs, it is our
request and appeal to all our colleagues to
help make this conference successful by their
overwhelming support and active participation.
We look forward to welcome you to VLSI-2009 in
New Delhi. |
